NEGATIVE FORMS
(AFTER DEMONTAGE)
Production moulds made for an earlier work become autonomous sculptures of retained contact and material absence.
CONCEPT
Negative Forms (after Demontage) reactivates the plaster moulds produced for 36 Alpine Summits — A Demontage (Mountainwork VI) between 1990 and 1995.
Originally used as technical tools for casting the stoneware duplicates, the preserved moulds were not part of the museum acquisition. They are now being developed as an autonomous sculptural work.
Their cavities no longer function primarily as instruments of reproduction. They make the absent summit stones physically perceptible through hollows, boundaries and retained traces.
