ABSENCE

Holes, negative forms and empty spaces give physical presence to what is absent. The void is defined not as nothing, but through its boundary, weight and relation to matter.

THE WEIGHT
OF ABSENCE

A silent public procession culminates in the erection of a shrine whose single plumb line marks an ice level that is no longer present.

Fragmented, geological-organic bodies gather around openings. Their edges make the void perceptible while the objects remain provisional: part sculpture, part remnant, part negative form.

The hole is not missing matter; its edge gives emptiness a visible form.

FRAGMENT

Each object appears geological and incomplete, as if separated from a larger body.

VOID

Interior space becomes an active volume rather than a passive absence.

BALANCE

Weight, support and instability place the absent in relation to the material.

Three individual Hole Objects are brought into a temporary vertical relation. Their openings, fractures and differing orientations form a single unstable mountain body.

NEGATIVE FORMS
(AFTER DEMONTAGE)

The original plaster moulds produced for 36 Alpine Summits — A Demontage (1990–1995) are being reconfigured as an autonomous sculptural work. Once technical tools for casting stoneware replicas, their cavities now make the absent summit stones physically perceptible.
