LANGUAGE
AS MATERIAL
Through coding, condensation, overwriting and erasure, language becomes line, surface and landscape. Reading gives way to a physical encounter with traces of writing.
LITERARY
FROTTAGE
Horizontal pencil lines are drawn across an irregular paper surface. Their varying pressure, density and spacing evoke a text that can no longer be read. Language persists as rhythm, resistance and trace.
VIEW PROJECT
CONDENSATION
Repeated lines accumulate until text becomes density and field.
OVERWRITING
One layer remains present inside another without being fully recoverable.
ERASURE
The disappearance of words produces a new material presence.
TEXT / LINE / SURFACE / TRACE
Language becomes visible at the point where it can no longer simply be read.
